Well it’s been awhile, not that I think anyone really missed me but my blog keeps coming to mind so why not do a little something with it. School is going really well. We had a very rainy spring break and of course the sunshine returned the week we returned to school. We are currently taking a little break from learning adventures but I’m quite sure the next unit will take us longer than 30 days. We are studying Voyage of the Dawn Treader and then are going to do a small study on pirates.
While doing Ancient Rome and Volcanoes we added in a lapbook on volcanoes from homeschool share. That particular lapbook was thoroughly laid out (which was what I needed for doing my first lapbook) and the kids aboslutely loved it. They are still looking back over things and talking about. Our next one will the one about Pirate Diary from that site. It does require a little more prep work that I am use to but seeing how much they enjoyed the last one I think it will be worth it.
I’m also trying to think about the future of our homeschool adventure. I love Learning Adventures but with more children coming up in the ranks I’m not sure how well it will continue to work for us. This has set my head into a whirl on more than one occasion but I try to remind myself that I probably don’t have anything to worry about before Christmas since I think it will take us that long to finish up A World of Adventures. I have the required reading books for A New World of Adventures and would only need the manuals which might be my best option for another year yet. It really depends on how soon Dozer shows he’s ready for school and how well I can adapt things for Slingshot. I definately have learned that since I don’t have the little adventures pack for Pebbles I need to get some different language arts for her. I’m leaning towards Queen’s homeschooling for that. I tried using Rod and Staff and it just wasn’t working for either of us. Slingshot will need something for language arts as well and I’ll probably just use Queen’s for her too. I”m considering changing math programs as well but now I’m getting ahead of myself.
