So here it is the Thursday before Memorial Day. I can count on 1 hand how many school days we have left for the 2010-2011 school year. The funny thing is though that when school year round, you (or at least I don’t) don’t really see the end of the year. You see your next break and then your next “back to it”. Yeah, I’m sure that doesn’t make a lot of sense. Here’s what I’m thinking for this summer though. June 3rd starts our break-WHooooo-Hoooooo! We’ll go back on July 5th. Orginal plan was to go back to our AWOA studies but there are some possible things in the works that may interfer with that plan so I have a new plan.
Homeschool share has a great lapbook for Mr. Popper’s Peguins. Seeing as there is now a movie coming out based on the book, I think this will be great to do before the kids see the movie. It looks quite interesting and I love how it’s so neatly laid out (since that’s the kind of lapbook I need in order for it to be completed). There is also one there on cooking which I might also use. If I do use both of these it will probably take care of July and the first part of August. Then I’ll have the hard decision of starting our next unit in AWOA or filling with something else as the unit would probably get split by our next break (boy that’s a scary thought) however, I haven’t counted out days yet to know. There would also be the option of just doing Mr. Popper’s Peguins, cooking and then a short break. I’m not sure. I’d really like the little adventurers pages for our next section but they aren’t done yet so they may not be an option. Still I have a starting point and I’m looking forward to it and I even order the book this morning.
Oh only 5 more days of school.
